In the November lockdown I decided I wasn't going to do nothing again I was going to get out and run!I am reasonably fit as I attend a bootcamp session regularly.
After a week of intense running my shin started to be really sore, during and after my run. I wouldn't let the kids come near me incase they touched them. They were so painful. I saw Wendy soon after and she said to rest them. I had shin splints! I was told to rest, no impact sports! Well I did most of what she said, but decided to take part in small amounts of running on grass.
When I went back to see her in January I almost jumped off the couch when Wendy touched my legs! I hasn't been following her advice strongly enough! She sent me to my Dr's recommending an X-ray. Wendy's, and my, worst fears were realised when the worst news came through. Where I hadn't followed her advice I had given myself tiny mirror fracture off my shin bone!
The relief of being able to run again, 6 months after the diagnosis was such a relief. I still take it steady and Wendy keeps an eye on how my shins are doing. So much so, she is in contact with my Bootcamp instructors and was throughout my treatment to make sure my health is prioritised. I'm so lucky to have found Wendy as her care and treatment have been second to none!
That was it complete rest from all impact and running! Wendy gave me exercises to help strengthen my legs and core to relieve pressure on my lower legs. Alternative exercises to do instead of running. She kept in contact with me regularly, outside of appointments, to make sure I was following advice and making progress.
I could recommend her highly enough!
Whenever I have seen Wendy she has been knowledgeable and helped with any injury I have seen her with. She not only treated the injury but gave me exercises to do to rehab the problem so I could get back playing as soon as possible but also gave me some "prehab" exercises to do to prevent the injury from reoccurring.
I have been taken aback by Wendys passion for learning and her appetite to not settle for just one type of treatment, when I have returned for subsequent sessions, she has read up on new treatments methods or new ways to speed up my recovery.
Wendy has been looking after the legs of our super sporty daughter for some years now, from the early days of cross-country and cyclo-cross, through the dabbling with road cycling and triathlon and then becoming the reigning Wiltshire steeplechase champion.
She has seen her through growth spurts, niggles and full-on injuries, from aiding recovery but more importantly looking at injury prevention. She also understands and cares about the emotional side of being on the injury bench which makes parenting competitive sporty offspring a little easier to manage.
Wendy's support has grown and developed as Ayla has moved from regional and national level competition onto international events through her selection as part of the British Biathlon National Development Squad. Being one of Wendy's sponsored athletes is invaluable. Its reassuring knowing that Ayla is in very safe hands!
I first saw Wendy when she was recommended to me by a friend to help with a shoulder problem. As a long distance swimmer, the injury was really holding me back from training as much as I wanted to. Wendy was able to very effectively spot the issues I had and work with me to help me fully recover and get back to training.
As well as being very knowledgeable about sports therapy, she has a great personality and I find her really easy to get on with. I have continued to regularly visit Wendy and she is a key part of my routine for staying fit and healthy.
Wendy is by far the best sports therapist I’ve been to and I’d happily recommend her to anyone.
We have been going to see Wendy for 10 years approx. She has always been thorough with our treatment with great success.
Wendy has also become a friend who has a been very professional with any information that we have shared. We look forward to being her clients for years to come
Wendy is a brilliant sports therapist. I can’t recommend her highly enough. I have worked Wendy through multiple injuries most recently a full shoulder rebuild surgery. The surgery happened just weeks before we first went into lockdown. Wendy adapted really quickly moving to online support, we held weekly, sometimes twice a week, calls to discuss process and help set my mind at ease as i started to progress through me rehab.
She would provide examples of exercises during the calls and then follow this up with videos for me to rewatch. Sessions were always productive and reassuring even though they were held via video.
Once back face to face the session were proactive and fun, whilst know how far she could push the rehab. Every session was held in a safe environment.
She got me back to playing high level rugby again something at the time of surgery I was warned may not happen.
I have recommended her services to numerous people of all age’s including my wife’s grandparents and my mother. As Wendy has the ability to work a help anyone regardless of age or how they got injured.
